Introducing Illustration at Airtasker

When I joined Airtasker back in 2017, my first responsibility was to introduce and implement the company's first branded illustration style.

I started this exciting journey along with the support from the amazing ✨ ‘OG’ Brand Design team: Fra, Damien, Ming, Aarti and Schwarzy.

Style Workshop

I ran a workshop involving the Design Team, which had us reflecting on Airtasker's existing & ideal brand, personality and voice. This helped us define our illustration colour, style, shape and texture. We also looked at competitors and analysed the vibes we identified with or did not relate to, and took notes for inspiration.

The workshop allowed me to explore and experiment with various styles, and after a while, we finally discovered and defined our first Illustration Style-Guide.

Today, we utilise this Illustration Style in all of our Brand and Product screens.

2022 – Reimagined concept

It’s been 5 years since I refreshed our illustration style and I feel as though we are due for an update so we can represent who we are today. I’ve been spending some time on the side to see where we can take it. Here are the first explorations.
